A Beautiful and Practical Thyroid Cytopathology Book

This book has helped me and my colleagues a great deal,since our laboratory(in Greece)bought it in April.
It is not a conventional cytology book, but a true multidisciplinary book,correlating clinical and radiological data with cytological presentation and final pathology. This book has helped our laboratory in everyday practice and in our opinion it fills a gap among thyroid books.
Text is written very carefully, is descriptive, easy to read and highly organized. The images are beautiful, especially the panoramic photographs of various tumors is unique among pathology books. Histology confirmation is provided in most of the cases presented. Readers can correlate the cytology images and get acquainted with the many faces of every entity that is described in this book. It also is interesting to follow the clinical presentations of the patients and by following this format the author highlighted the diagnostic pitfalls and limitations of FNA cytology. There are so many practical tips coming from an author who has published a lot of thyroid articles based on my PubMed search. By applying Professor Yang's practical approach and algorithms in everyday practice, our laboratory feels more confident when dealing with follicular variant of papillary carcinoma. We highly recommend this excellent textbook for both trainees and experienced pathologists in addition to thyroid health professionals.

A must have reference for health care providers involved in thyroid pathology

As a community surgical pathologist routinely performing bedside FNAs, I am ecstatic with the publication of this long awaited monograph by Dr. Grace Yang (developer of the UltraFast Papstain). Finally, an all-in-one text replete with excellent photomicrographs with clinical, radiologic, and cyto/surgical pathologic correlation for both quick and detailed reference!!
It is a must-have resource for all health care providers involved in Thyroid Pathology.
For pathologists interpreting thyroid cytopathology-
The term "Follicular Lesion" can be over-utilized and nebulous, sometimes providing very little guidance to the clinicians who read the pathology reports. There are so many subtle clues and "mimickers" to look out for in determining whether a follicular lesion should be further categorized following the currently suggested Bethesda Classification. This book will definitely help in this regard. The topics are divided in a very practical manner, with each chapter devoted to a specific diagnosis and all possible mimickers.
For endocrinologists and other clinical health care providers-
This book is a comprehensive resource covering a wealth of possible clinical scenarios of patients with thyroid nodules, detailing clinical, radiologic, and pathologic features.

GRACE YANG SAVED MY THYROID WITH HER CRYSTAL CLEAR METHOD OF STAINING SLIDES

I am a former thyroid patient, and I want to highly recommend Dr. Yang and her method of staining slides, which are crystal clear, unlike the blurry ones produced by Quest Diagnostics during my thyroid cancer scare in the year 2,000. I was so lucky to be having my second fine needle aspiration when Dr. Yang happened to be there (at Park Avenue Radiology) using her staining method. (At one point she let me look in her microscope so I could see the remarkable clarity she acheived, next to the blurry slides of Quest.) She was able to show me that Quest had mistaken free-floating nuclei (some cells get broken by the fine needle, and the nuclei can float free) for Hurthle cells, which I understand are a precancerous form. Because of Dr. Yang, I chose to have a simple lumpectomy, taking out the one nodule on my isthimus, and it turned out benign. Because of Dr. Yang I still have my thyroid today. If I were a physician treating thyroid patients I would allow Dr. Yang's method of working and no other. Her method has spread to hundreds of hospitals and clinics around the United States and beyond.
